The heating process is quick and clean; the part or material to be heated is placed inside a heating coil made with copper tubing. The design of the coil depends on the characteristics of the part being heated. The coil attaches to a water-cooled remote heat station which may be located up to 200 ft. (60 meters) from the power supply.

To maximize reliability and repeatability, these power supplies offer 100% solid state design and continuous, microprocessor-based digital tuning. For applications which require rapid response times, voltage can be cycled between 1% and 100% as quickly as eight times per second.

The large front panel digital display shows all the important operating parameters: DC voltage, current and power, as well as operating frequency and fault status. The display works with the internal program timer, which can be set for heat cycles from 20 milliseconds up to two hours and 47 minutes.

Although the power supply is normally set up for front panel operation and control, convenient rear panel setup switches enable the user to operate from a pendant station, a computer (via an RS-422/485 serial port) or from the rear panel with a 4-20mA source.
